About Bonnethead Key Floating Campground
For our 8 Day Paddle Adventure from Key Largo to Key West, we lost many camping locations due to Hurricane Irma. After scouting new camping spots, we were desperate to find a location for our last night of the trip before we landed in Key West. We decided to scour the land listings for property and stumbled upon a private island! We paddled out to it and found it to be really cool and the rest is history!

At Extreme Trips, we are adventure junkies with a thirst for making stories. We have spent many years selfishly doing our own adventures and have met many amazing guides and other adventurers. We have decided to share this lifestyle and help others create amazing stories.
Throughout the years we have established relationships with some of the most experienced and fun guides and we offer amazing guided and fun extreme trips throughout the year. Keep checking our site to see new and upcoming trips.

You will stay in a really cool Floating Tent anchored off a PRIVATE ISLAND in paradise near Key West! Spend your days exploring, fishing, snorkeling the backcountry of the Florida Keys. Spend your nights camping under the stars on the most beautiful and warm waters of North America!

Bonnethead Key Map
Site prices include up to 2 people per site. Each Site location is approximate given that each tent is anchored and floating. You will be given direction on which is yours prior to check-in.
Check-in is between 1pm and 3pm. We prefer this check-in time in order to give you ample time to gear up, pack your kayaks and make the paddle out to the “Floating Campground”.
The island is 50 plus acres which 10 acres is our private island and the other 40 is State land which is allowed for recreation use only. Please do not setup campfires or anything outside our property boundary.
